Mica is a lightweight, flaky mineral that makes a pretty tinkling sound when brushed against anything metal. That's why this earring pattern (pg 14) is so fun to make. Using the mica creates an organic, yet somehow almost industrial look that will leave everyone asking you where you bought them. Mica can be a little difficult to work with because of its flaky composition, but it is well worth the effort when you get this gorgeous effect from your jewelry making techniques. This puts a new and interesting twist on your average bead earring pattern by using one large embellished "bead."
